As the first and only designated Centre Of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynaecology (COEMIG) in Australia, WA GynaeScope is proud to specialise in keyhole surgery to treat a number of gynaecological and fertility problems.

The designation to become a COEMIG Unit was achived after auditing by one of the most respected surgical consumer protection organisations in the world namely the SURGICAL REVIEW CORPORATION (  This body was subcontracted by the largest and most prestigious organisation of its type the AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF GYNAECOLOGICAL LAPAROSCOPISTS (

As part of this  designation we are committed to report on our surgical outcomes.  This forms part of our undertaking to be transparent and a true centre of excellence in our field.

WA GynaeScope was founded in 2013 with the aim of providing excellent care to patients with gynaecological needs and promoting minimally invasive gynaecology surgery.

We carry out more than 700 minimally invasive procedures every year. These procedures range from straightforward procedures such as endometrial ablation to the more complex operations such as laparoscopic total hysterectomy, laparoscopic myomectomy and laparoscopic resection of severe cases of endometriosis.

Minimal-access or minimally invasive gynaecological surgery involves operating through much smaller incisions, resulting in less pain and a faster recovery time for patients.

It is performed using high-definition imaging systems to minimise the trauma of surgical exposure, and is a rapidly expanding branch of surgery.

In gynaecological practice, minimal access surgery is usually done by access to the body cavity via laparoscopy, hysteroscopy or cystoscopy.

Advantages of "key hole"  surgery include:

  • Less post-operative pain and wound complications
  • Less incidence of wound problems
  • More precise visualisation of the anatomy
  • Reduced blood loss
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • It facilitates gentler handling of tissue

Minimally invasive surgery has fundamentally changed surgery and has been adopted worldwide. With rapidly expanding expertise, minimally invasive surgery will likely replace open surgery in the future.

Under its COEMIG accreditation, WA GynaeScope is proud to offer the highest-quality minimal access gynaecological surgery to its patients.
